Kareena and Salman in "Punjabi Nikaah"

Kareena Kapoor and Salman Khan will play lovers with different religious and cultural backgrounds in a comedy movie called My Punjabi Nikaah.

The film would reportedly be the Hindi adaptation of Hollywood movie 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding'. The Bollywood version would have Salman playing a Muslim guy in love with a Punjabi girl to be played by Kareena.

Besides the two lovers in the story, the movie would also focus on the clash between their respective fathers, who are not willing to accept the cross cultural marriage.

Sohail Khan, who will produce and direct the movie, has reportedly approached Dharmendra to play Kareena's Punjabi father and Feroze Khan to play Salman's Muslim dad. The two senior actors have yet to give their nod to the project.

The movie's script is being jointly written by Sohail and Rumi Jaffrey.

Salman and Kareena were last year seen in Priyadarshan's Kyon Ki, which was a flop at the box-office.
