Pepsi unveils new blockbuster summer campaign featuring Kareena

Continuing its push for summer 2002, Pepsi on May 13th unveiled its second major blockbuster advertising campaign featuring two advertising debutantes - Kareena Kapoor and Adnan Sami - along with Shah Rukh Khan.

Shot in Venice, the 60-second multi-starrer is directed by well-known Bollywood choreographer Farah Khan, who also makes her debut in advertising films. Conceptualised by Pepsi's ad agency HTA, the ad is shot by cinematographer Santosh Sivan of critically acclaimed film Terrorist.

According to the release, the ad has a catchy jingle sung by Adnan Sami himself, which is composed by Loy, Ahsan and Shankar of 'Dil Chahta Hai' fame.

The ad, produced by Shah Rukh's 'Arclights & Films' has Adnan taking Shah Rukh and Kareena for a ride on a gondola in the famous waterways of Venice. However, the serene ride gets disturbed when Shah Rukh gets upset and walks off after Kareena drinks his Pepsi. Adnan joins Kareena in wooing Shah Rukh back with a foot-tapping song and dance jig. While Shah Rukh is easily won over by this act, he, however, still does not get his Pepsi.

Kareena and Adnan were the two star endorsers signed by Pepsi early this year. "Music and films are the two passions of youngsters and these elements are closely integrated to the brand communication," says Ms Vibha Rishi, executive director (marketing), Pepsi Foods Ltd.

This is the second major campaign by Pepsi after it brought together two biggest icons of the country-Amitabh Bachchan and Sachin Tendulkar-in an ad film directed by ad filmmaker Prahlad Kakkar.
